UCSB's Evaluation System for Courses and Instruction (ESCI)

Student evaluations of teaching play a critical role in UCSB’s educational mission. Your thoughtful, constructive feedback will help faculty develop their courses and instruction.

The most useful ratings and feedback focus only on matters directly related to the course and instruction. As you complete the survey, please keep in mind that research has shown that student evaluations of teaching may be influenced by students’ unconscious and unintentional biases and that women and instructors of color are systematically rated lower in their teaching evaluations than their peers, even when there are no actual differences in the instruction or in what students have learned.

To access your ESCIs, login with your UCSBnetID and password. Your responses are anonymous! Instructors can only access survey response rates (i.e. how many students have responded, but not who has responded nor their actual responses). After grades are submitted instructors receive a summarized report of student feedback without identifying information.
